Discover the Winners of the “Agir In Seine-Saint-Denis 2024” Call for Proposals Supported by the International Observatory of Violence Against Women
As part of its program "Territories that protect women victims of violence" the International Observatory of Violence Against Women continues to raise awareness and take action here and there. This initiative involves collaboration with international solidarity associations and women from diasporas engaged in the fight against violence against women.
For this new edition of the “Agir In Seine-Saint-Denis” call for projects, the specific category dedicated to violence against women here and there has been maintained. This specific category targets associations wishing to carry out a project internationally or for migrant women.
This year, four projects were selected in this category for their significant impact both in Seine-Saint-Denis and internationally.

Association Anafé: Improving the Consideration of Vulnerable Women at Borders
For thirty-five years, Anafé has been advocating for the rights of foreign individuals detained at borders. People who reach French borders and are denied entry or request asylum are detained in waiting zones (ZA). The one at Roissy-CDG airport is the largest in France. The project aims to improve the consideration of the vulnerability of women, alone or with their children, and girls who are victims of violence during their migratory journey and detained in the waiting zone at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport. The actions include information on their rights, legal support, individual follow-ups, visits to the accommodation and terminal areas, court observation, the creation or updating of specific tools, and training for lawyers and field actors. Additionally, there are litigation, analysis, advocacy, and awareness-raising activities to combat violence against women in these zones.

Association Galène Production: Testifying to the Violence Experienced by Migrant Women
Galène Productions continues its commitment by collecting testimonies from recently arrived migrant women in France, often after migratory journeys marked by violence. The project will result in artistic creations such as text collections, public readings with a cellist, the creation of a podcast with a written narrative, and the creation of a play, aimed at raising awareness and informing the public about the violence suffered by these women, both in their home countries and during their migration. The project also includes research and investigation work with partner associations such as Amicale du Nid in St Denis, La Courneuve, St Ouen, Ikambéré, and care and reception structures such as La Maison du Bébé or La Maison des femmes in St Denis, as well as neighborhood houses in Seine-Saint-Denis. Part of the work will be done in Lampedusa to meet women arriving by sea.

Association Médecins Après la Mort: TOMIBATELA Project
The TOMIBATELA (Let’s Protect Ourselves) project is initiated by young people from associative collectives in Ouenzé (Congo) and Montreuil (France). It aims to create a listening and awareness-raising space in Ouenzé, to inform the public about the different forms of violence against women and children. This listening, exchange, and awareness space will aim to prevent violence and direct victims to the appropriate authorities. The TOMIBATELA space will be set up in a social and cultural center, providing a secure environment for victims.

Association Sunshine: Prevent, Act to No Longer Suffer Here and There
This project includes awareness workshops and an eloquence contest in France and Cameroon, aimed at strengthening the rhetorical skills of young people and raising awareness about women’s rights and gender equality. The program includes preparatory workshops in schools in France (in Sevran) and Cameroon (in Yaoundé), local finals, and a global restitution, allowing participants to share their experiences and actively engage in the fight against gender-based violence. The workshops and contests aim to provide effective awareness of gender-based violence and involve young people in raising awareness on these issues.
