Exchange between Seine Saint Denis (France), Ngazidja (Comoros) and Jenin (Palestinian territories) on violence against women
Meeting between the Observatory of violence against women of Seine Saint Denis, the island of Ngazidja (Comoros) and the municipality of Jenin (Palestinian territories)
From 22 November to 29 November 2021, the Departmental Observatory on Violence against Women and the European and International Department of the Seine Saint Denis welcomed the delegations of Ngazidja (Comoros) and Jenin (Palestinian territories) to the event “Femmes du Monde”. The event brought together more than 1000 professionals from the Department of Seine Saint Denis. Sitti Farouata Mhoudine, Governor of Ngazidja, and Maysoon Dawood, director of the cultural centre for youth in Jenin, participated in the event to discuss about violence against women in Palestine and the Comoros.
The Comorian and Palestinian delegations had the opportunity to meet and exchange with the professionals of Seine Saint Denis working on the ground to fight violence against women. The delegations also took part in guided visits to venues and facilities for women victims of violence, such as the municipal health centre in the city of Romainville, the Maison des Femmes in Saint Denis, or the reception and guidance centre of the association SOS Femmes 93.
This week of exchanges culminated in the launch of the project “Territories protecting women from violence against women”, an international initiative of the Seine Saint Denis aimed at strengthening and expanding local policies against gender-based violence.
