Palestine is under constant military attack by the Israeli armed forces, described as “acts of genocide” by Francesca Albanese, UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories. In Jenin in the West Bank, the situation is dramatic: schools closed, stores at a standstill, soldiers omnipresent in the streets. The population, plunged into fear and precariousness, is bearing the full brunt of the economic and psychological consequences of the conflict.

During our exchange on December 17, 2024, Mayssoun Dawoud, head of Jenin’s Observatory of Violence against Women, testifies:

Everything is closed, schools, stores... We hope that the international community will come and put an end to this situation, otherwise the consequences for our populations will be devastating.
Mayssoun Dawoud Head of Jenin's Observatory of Violence against Women

Faced with this reality, the Observatory remains mobilized to support the population, especially women and children, who are the most vulnerable in wartime.

  • Stress and fear management sessions organized for traumatized children,
  • Psychological support for families in distress,
  • Maintaining essential activities despite closures.
We have to face this situation head on. We try to do what we can, keep working and be there for the people of Jenin.
Mayssoun Dawoud Head of Jenin's Observatory of Violence against Women

We salute the work of the Jenin Observatory which, through its commitment, embodies a space of security and solidarity in a context of war.
